BIOGRAPHY:

Great sax player and bandleader, he was born Frank Benjamin Foster III in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA on September 23rd, 1928. He started playing clarinet and sax at school (although he has also used flute and piano in his career).

In 2001, Frank Foster suffered a stroke that affected his left side, and couldn´t play sax anymore, but then, he concentrated on composing and arranging, as well as leading bands.

After a long period of ill health, Frank Foster passed away on July 26th, 2011 at his home in Chesapeake, Virginia, USA, due to complications from kidney failure. He was 82. What a great music he has given us...
