Donald Bailey (drums)

MINIMAL BIOGRAPHY:

Great jazz drummer (he also played harmonica in some records), Donald Bailey (known as Donald ´Duck´ Bailey) was born Donald Orland Bailey Sr on March 26th, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, from a musical family (both his father and brother were players and bassist Victor Bailey is Donald´s nephew).

Donald Bailey played with many great jazz acts. His most lengthy period was backing organist Jimmy Smith, from 1956 to 1964.

Donald Bailey passed away on October 15th, 2013 in Montclair, California, USA. He was 80. These are some of the lineups I know with him:
