This is intended to be a homage to very many musicians I've loved since I started listening to music. My intention is to tell what I know about them, hoping that those people who like them too, will help me fill numerous gaps, which I may have in their careers and discographies. Sorry, but there are no MP3 audio files here at all, just info (and love for the musicians).

Bob Wackett (drums)

BANDS:
  • Cyril Davies R&B All Stars [1963-Jan 64]
  • The Echoes [1963-Dec 64]
  • Dusty Springfield Band [1963-Dec 64]

BIOGRAPHY:

Bob Wackett was part of those great pioneer musicians that helped rhythm & blues music to be known among people. I have very few data about him, but anyway, I want to pay tribute to him with this short page.

CYRIL DAVIES R&B ALL STARS

At the end of 1963, there were a couple of changes in the lineup. Johnny Parker replaced Keith Scott, and Bob Wackett replaced Micky Waller:

CYRIL DAVIES R&B ALL STARS #
end 63-Jan 64
Cyril Davies
vocals, harmonica
Long John Baldry
vocals
Geoff Bradford
guitar
Cliff Barton
bass
Johnny Parker
piano
The Velvettes

(died)ê
Hoochie Coochie Menê
Hoochie Coochie Menê

Hoochie Coochie Menê

But Cyril Davies died of leukemia on January 7, 1964. He was 32. Then, Long John Baldry took with him most of these musicians, now under the new name Hoochie Coochie Men.

THE ECHOES

The Echoes, apart from being a band on their own, auditioned for becoming Dusty Springfield´s backing band in 1963. This was their lineup by then:

THE ECHOES #?
1963-Dec 64
Pete Clifford
guitar
Douggie Reece
bass
Micky Garrett
keyboards

But in December 1964, Wackett left the band.

DUSTY SPRINGFIELD BAND

As I´ve said, The Echoes, apart from being a band on their own, auditioned for becoming Dusty Springfield´s backing band in 1963. This was their lineup by then:

DUSTY SPRINGFIELD BAND #?
1963-Dec 64
Dusty Springfield
vocals
Pete Clifford
guitar
Douggie Reece
bass
Micky Garrett
keyboards

But in December 1964, Wackett left the band.

And, after that, I haven't been able to find more info about him, except for a few sessions, mentioned below. Has anybody more info about him, please?

  1. Bob also wrote "Searching for you Baby" with Kenny Lynch.
This song was recorded and released by The Echoes in 1968 on the Philips Label.

    1. Hi, Douggie, and THANKS a lot again for your very interesting comments and emails about The Echoes. In the future, I'll try to cover more musicians from the band, including you; if I only had more free time... Thanks a lot again.
