Tommy Whittle was a brilliant jazz sax player. He was born on October 13th, 1926 in Grangemouth, Scotland.
Tommy played in many famous orchestras and big bands, such as Stan Kenton, Jack Parnell, Ted Heath, Johnny Dankworth, Cyril Stapleton, Don Lusher.
Tommy Whittle passed away on October 13th, 2013 here in Spain due to pneumonia, the same day on his 87th birthday. He was married to jazz singer Barbara Jay.

TED HEATH ORCHESTRA
After playing for decades (although its leader had passed away in 1969), Ted Heath Orchestra decided to dissolve, and they played a special farewell concert in December 2000:
A double live album was released, The farewell concert.
After that, Don Lusher assembled his own orchestra, with some of these musicians.
