Jimmy Heath (sax)

BRIEF BIOGRAPHY:

Great sax player (also playing flute, not forgetting he was also a very good writer: some of his songs were recorded by Miles Davis, Chet Baker or Nat Adderley), Jimmy Heath was born James Edward Heath in October 25th, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He´s brother of Percy Heath and Albert ´Tootie´ Heath; also father to James Mtume.

Jimmy wrote his autobiography, appropiately called I walked with giants: the autobiography of Jimmy Heath.

Jimmy Heath passed away on January 19th, 2020 in Loganville, Georgia, US. He was 93. As with many of these great jazz musicians, my page is just a short tribute to him.
