Fantastic guitarist, there isn't many info about him, so I just put here what I know. Richard Brunton (sometimes credited as Richie Brunton or Rich Brunton) is superb, and I can't understand why he hasn't got more recognition; but this happens too often... The only biographical data I know is that he was born in Newcastle.
THE EPIDEMIC
The Epidemic is the first band I´ve been able to trace featuring Richard Brunton in the mid sixties. A soul and r&b band from Newcastle, most of their members were attending the Newcastle Royal Grammar School in Eskdale Terrace, Jesmond. They played the Tyneside circuit in the late sixties. In 1967, Ian Richardson joins them as their new sax player:
Their drummer was called Tim and their lead singer was called Frank, but I haven´t any other info to complete. Help, please!

Hi, Sattva was;
ReplyDeleteRichard Brunton - Guitar
Phil Jump - Fender Rhodes
Alan (Min) Mennie - Drums
Pete Westbrook - Flute/Sax
Stewart Kelsie - Bass
Thanks a lot for your contribution! I had never been able to find this info. Great names: Phil Jump also played with Pete Sinfield in 1973 and I think I had an album featuring Pete Westbrook (by Hard Meat, also featuring Phil Jump). I'll modify the page as soon as I have some free time. Thanks again!
DeleteSome previously unknown info: 1969/70, Rich and I, both Geordies, shared a basement flat in Barnes whilst he was working at Private Eye magazine and I was repairing Punch Card Machines for ICL. We spent some time visiting various folk/blues clubs in London and eventually teamed up with Steve Fanger whose brother J.D., subsequently spent many years as an integral part of the Depeche Mode setup. Steve and I both played blues harp and, after some perfunctory rehearsals, managed to feel sufficiently confident to appear amongst a large collection of folk musos at the Fairfield Hall in Croydon, where we were billed as Steve, Rich and Mick. I last jammed with Rich and Ernie Bell in a pub in Weston-super-Mare some years ago (2011?). Rich now runs his analogue studio in the wilds of Wiltshire.
