This is intended to be a homage to very many musicians I've loved since I started listening to music. My intention is to tell what I know about them, hoping that those people who like them too, will help me fill numerous gaps, which I may have in their careers and discographies. Sorry, but there are no MP3 audio files here at all, just info (and love for the musicians).

BIOGRAPHY:

GO WEST

Go West is a band formed by Peter and Cox and Richard Drummie. They have had great backing musicians, and Jaz played with them, but I don´t have info about when. Help with info, please!

MOODY-MARSDEN BAND

Micky Moody and Bernie Marsden are friends since they started playing together in Whitesnake. They've been playing together under different bands and monickers. But their most usual name is Moody-Marsden Band. Their lineups aren't permanent, just both guitarists with different musicians.

This was the lineup around December 1991:

MOODY-MARSDEN BAND #?
Dec 91
Bernie Marsden
guitar, vocals
Micky Moody
guitar
Zak Starkey
drums

They released a live album, Never turn our back on the blues, recorded live that same month.

CHAR (BAND)

Char is a Japanese guitar hero. He also employs British musicians. In his 1992 tour, he´s backed by:

CHAR BAND #?
1992
Char
guitar
Dan Matrazzo
keyboards
Jim Copley
drums

PAUL RODGERS (BAND)

A great vocalist needs a great band. In January 1993, Geoff joins the band, usually billed as Paul Rodgers and Company:

Geoff Whitehorn

Jim Copley

Now is a powerful album.

As a limited edition, the album Now has been packed as a 2CD, including a live album, called Live - The Loreley tapes, recorded at the Rockpalast Open Air Festival, Loreley, Germany, on July 8th, 1995. Superb sound, and fantastic performance. They play some covers from Paul past bands, such as Free ('All right now', 'The hunter', 'Mr. Big' or 'Wishing well') or Bad Company ('Can't get enough', 'Feel like makin' love').

Paul Rodgers changed completely his band at the beginning of 1998. But, in 1999, it has appeared a new studio album by Paul, with his former band (i.e. Paul with Geoff, Jaz & Jim). The album is called Electric.

BRITISH ROCK SYMPHONY

The same concept of blending rock and classical music, but this time a CD has been released (Jaz doesn´t appear there). It was followed by a British tour in July 1999. It was supposed to play in Spain, but finally, some dates were re-scheduled, so I finally don't know if they played here (the projected city was Santiago de Compostela, in July). This was the live lineup:

BRITISH ROCK SYMPHONY #?
1999
Roger Daltrey
vocals
Gary Brooker
vocals, piano
Paul Young
vocals
Darlene Love
vocals
Geoff Whitehorn
guitar
Simon Townshend
guitar, vocals
Jimmy Jewell
keyboards
Zak Starkey
drums
Keith Levenson
musical conductor
Alvin Fields
backing vocals
Nikki Lamborn
backing vocals

NICKO MCBRAIN BAND

When powerful drummer Nicko McBrain is not busy with Iron Maiden, he usually plays with friends doing clinics. Another different version of the band was:

NICKO MCBRAIN BAND #?
2000
Chris George
guitar
Geoff Whitehorn
guitar
Nicko McBrain
drums

They even played in Spain in July 2000.

PHILIP QUAST BAND

In August 2002, Jaz plays a few gigs with Philip Quast, along with studio ace Mitch Dalton:

PHILIP QUAST BAND #?
Aug 02
Philip Quast
Mitch Dalton
guitar
Jason Robert Brown
keyboards
Mark Glenworth
percussion
Justin Woodward
drums
Christopher Fish
cello

From those concerts, a live album was released Live at the Donmar.

BAD COMPANY

Around 2002, Jaz rejoins Paul Rodgers, but this time inside Bad Company:

BAD COMPANY #?
2002
Paul Rodgers
vocals
Dave ´Bucket´ Colwell
guitar
Simon Kirke
drums

And currently, I don't know the status of the band, as Paul Rodgers started touring with Queen. Any info, please?

NICKO McBRAIN BAND (again)

This was the personnel list in March 2003:

NICKO MCBRAIN BAND #?
2002-2003
Chris George
guitar
Phil Hilborne
guitar
Dave ´Bucket´ Colwell
guitar
Nicko McBrain
drums

Back in 2002, they had also backed Jim Marshall at the Marshall Amps 40th anniversary party.

ARC ANGELS

Another project with Nicko McBrain, but this time, it appears to be more stable. Around 2004, the new project is called Arc Angels:

ARC ANGELS #?
2004
Narada Michael Walden
vocals
Phil Hilborne
guitar
Nicko McBrain
drums

They have been recording some tracks. I hope they'll finally be released.

MORE INFO...

Apart from playing in bands, Jaz has also been playing in musicals. As far as I know, they played for a while in Mamma mia! and in Billy Elliot in 2005.

  1. jaz lochrie owes his success to his great playing and his lovely way about him but also to me and a band we were in together called "lorna and the solution". lorna stuckey was a fantastic blues singer and i wrote for her. we advertised for musicians to record the stuff and made some interesting music when jaz joined on bass. the engineer on our sessions was a good mate of gary stephenson, producer of GO WEST. he told gary about jaz's amazing playing and jaz joined go west soon after. this was in 1985 i think and jaz, though not yet in BAD COMPANY was always very good company indeed.
