This is intended to be a homage to very many musicians I've loved since I started listening to music. My intention is to tell what I know about them, hoping that those people who like them too, will help me fill numerous gaps, which I may have in their careers and discographies. Sorry, but there are no MP3 audio files here at all, just info (and love for the musicians).

Med Flory (sax)

BRIEF BIOGRAPHY:

Great sax and clarinet jazz player, Med Flory was born Meredith Irwin Flory on August 27th, 1926 in Logansport, Indiana, USA. The first band I know with him is Claude Thornhill Orchestra, followed by stints with Art Mooney. He joined Woody Herman Orchestra in 1953. Later, he joined Tommy Tucker, and then, he started his own group.

He moved to California in 1956, forming a new band there. He also started singing by then.

In 1959, he rejoined Woody Herman Orchestra. This was followed by a new career in acting, appearing in several movies, also in TV series such as Bonanza, Police Woman, Lassie or Mannix.

In 1972, Flory and Buddy Clark formed Supersax.

Med Flory passed away on March 12th, 2014. He was 87.
