This is intended to be a homage to very many musicians I've loved since I started listening to music. My intention is to tell what I know about them, hoping that those people who like them too, will help me fill numerous gaps, which I may have in their careers and discographies. Sorry, but there are no MP3 audio files here at all, just info (and love for the musicians).

J J Cale was born John Weldon Cale (although sometimes he's wrongly credited as Jean Jacques Cale) on December 5th, 1938 in Oklahoma City, but soon moved to Tulsa. He soon started playing in local bands (one of them included his friend Leon Russell), before forming his own Johnnie Cale & The Valentines.

A young J J Cale

In 1959, J J Cale moved to Nashville to play as professional musician for the Grand Ole Opry´s touring company.

After some years, he came back to Tulsa, started playing with Leon Russell again, and then, in 1964, Russell, Cale and bassist Carl Radle moved together to Los Angeles. There, Cale not only played but also worked as sound engineer.

J J Cale was a member of Delaney & Bonnie & Friends, but haven´t been able to find info about the period or the other players. Can someone help, please?:

J J CALE BAND

In 1967, we have J J Cale back in Tulsa, where he started recordings demos. Thanks to his mate Carl Radle, he got a recording contract, and that's how Eric Clapton knew of his songs, recording ´After midnight´ in 1970, and giving J J Cale the worldwide exposure he clearly deserved.

His first album, Naturally, was released in December 1971.

2nd album was Really.

Okie was released in 1974, followed by Troubadour in 1976 and Five in 1979.
