Emil Richards (percussion)

BRIEF BIOGRAPHY:

Fantastic vibraphonist and percussionist, Emil Richards was born Emilio Joseph Radocchia on September 2nd, 1932 in Hartford, Connecticut. He soon started playing percussion when he was a child. Emil Richards has played in hundreds of albums as a studio musician, also playing in soundtracks for movies or television programs.


HARTFORD SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA


The Hartford Symphony Orchestra was based in Hartford, Connecticut, founded in 1936. Along the years, many players have been members of the orchestra. Emil Richards was part of the orchestra while he was still at school along with his friend Joe Porcaro:

In 1959, Emil Richards moved again, now to Los Angeles, soon included in the list of most wanted studio cats, appearing in hundreds of albums, movie and TV series soundtracks, jingles, etc.

We can listen to Emil for example in the famous tune for the Mission: Impossible series, The Flintstones, Falcon Crest, Dinasty...

Some of the soundtracks with Emil are Star Trek, some of the old Planet of the apes movies or some Indiana Jones too.
